Color management

Color management is a broad term referring to the process of defining the color characteristics for every device in an imaging workflow to ensure that color is accurately reproduced on the different devices. In other words, the goal is to match color and appearance between different imaging media. Color management is common in the production of still print images, image scanning, digital cameras, displays of all kinds, and online imaging. This generally involves the measurement of test targets (with either a colorimeter or a spectrophotometer, a comparison of these measurements with a reference, the creation of ICC color profiles, implementation of the color transformation in a color management module (CMM) to reproduce the image on the intended device.
