[1] A published approved way of doing things. In the printing industry there are official groups which publish standards to encourage uniform, consistent, quality results.
Among them are ISO, ANSI, FOGRA, IDEAlliance, and others.
Note that a Standard is usually a Specification that has been raised to the level of a Standard.
