[1] A published approved example or measure used for comparison. In the printing industry there are official groups which publish standards to identify and encourage best practices to be followed for the industry.
Among them are ISO, ANSI, FOGRA, IDEAlliance, and others.
Note that a Standard is usually a Specification that has been raised to the level of a Standard.
