Luminance

A measurement of the amount of light leaving the surface of an object in a particular direction.
It is often expressed in candelas per square meter (cd/m2)
This is different than Lightness, which is a number that corresponds to the human perception of that light.
Luminance should also not be confused with illuminance, which is a measurement of a light source.
